Montego Bay, Jamaica – Short Story

Listen to This Story

After spending a few days in Montego Bay and meeting a couple of awesome new friends, it was time to check out the beach now🏝 a group of us decided to head from the morning to the beach (Doctor’s Cave) where you have to pay a fee to enter! Although next door there’s an entirely free beach to the public, the majority agreed to pay the fee (I didn’t mind paying $6 to enter because other people said that it had a different vibe to it) So, I said “oh what the hell, let’s give it a try!”

Before heading out on foot as agreed on.. like 10 mins slow-walk from my hostel to the beach.. some of the girls in the group decided to check out the food cart down the street for some grilled fish… I decided to get the roasted yam with garlic and mixed spicy pickles🍠 (it was so freaking good!!) After the light snack, picking up some water and drinks from the small deli down the street, half of the group was too tired to walk to the beach so they decided to take the bus to get there.. but for my other friend and me we preferred the walk!

A great convo with some trip-guide tips we reached a coffee shop.. and as the coffee addict I am, I needed some real coffee ☕️ the brewed coffee, not the instant-coffee (instant coffee is everywhere, but it gives me a really bad stomachache!) In the coffee shop, we decided why not just have lunch/breakfast here.. not many vegan options were over-there.. but they had fries and in the side section, there were some mixed vegetables 🍟(this somehow became my go-to food in Jamaica before finding out about ital food!)

After 🥘, we decided to give the beach a chance, but since the meal and coffee were $$ way-over what we had in mind… meeting up with the rest of the group for an hour at that private beach sounded ridiculous, even when the public beach (next door) was completely empty and just so beautiful! So, we decided oh why not, the public beach it is! We had a great convo about everything & anything, enjoyed a nice smoke, and had a great time watching the tiny-almost invisible crabs hide into the sand! 🦀

Always stay hydrated even when you’re trying to have a sexy beach-walk photoshoot with your grandma shorts after a full lunch meal!! 😆👌😍
