A one-day trip to Guatemala from Belize was more straightforward than you think!
We took a regular minivan a few small conversations with the other travelers, and in a few hours, we were at the border. The wait was little; you pay the entry fee and stamp your passport, and Wella, you’re in Guatemala.
So our first destination was Tikal, The Mayan hidden treasure.
Home of the impressive Maya temples, ball courts, and numerous excavated buildings, this place once rivaled Ancient Rome in size.
It’s believed that more than 100,000 Mayan people called Tikal home. After working up an appetite exploring the grounds, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
Tikal is very rich in history. Our tour guide explained to us about the youngest queen in Tikal and how she ruled her kingdom at a very young age.
There’s also your favorite animals!
Monkeys.. but more specific the howler monkey!!
Those little creatures might be cute from the outside, but they have the voice of a dinosaur!!
I kid you not… you can hear them from miles away, and when you’re in a jungle, you’ll doubt yourself if you’re there or in Jurassic Park!
See how high those buildings are… Yess! We climbed some of them!
and hiked to the highest one for the perfect view
After Tikal treasures, we headed to the local market
and that’s when I found out about the traditional animal masks.. they represent the person’s spirit
in the market, they also had a mini Guatemala!
