A very long bus ride from Mexico City to Veracruz, probably 6 or 7 hours! We drove through hills and what we thought was a morning mist was smoke, not from a nearby fire but the pollution, especially from the smoke that old cars engine’s make.
By the time we got to Veracruz, a friend had managed to get us an excellent cheap hotel to stay in a while staying there; she had brought us a hotel a block away from the city center at a fantastic price, I think it was around 50 bucks.
The town was Magnificient; it screamed “Spanish heritage” in every corner we ever went to. Finally, I was able to see a place that is less of a United States-wanna-be and is holding tight to its heritages.

The last picture with the palm trees is the town center, and the cathedral is Parroquia del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús.

Outside of the Iglesia was the Independencia park, where they had a statue of the leader who fought for Veracruz not to get occupied by the United States.
There were many food carts outside in the park, not like NYC gyro carts but like sunset park, Brooklyn’s Mexican carts; ice cream, mangos con chile, cotton candy, fruits, etc
of course, we had to try the mangos con chile!
We had to try the hand-made ice cream from natural ingredients! (tasted like heaven… I needed one 🙁 )
Mine was chocolate and nuts.
The park at night was nothing short of magical!
With some pina colada (Non-alcoholic, of course)
The houses were like a scene from a fairytale movie!
And of course, we tried the best tacos in town!
Before our magical two days in Cordoba ended, and had to get on that long bus ride again, but this time to Oaxaca.

This town looks like it’s stuck in the 1970s or something. But the church looks majestic. And I feel like taking a bite of those ice creams!
